I've got a lot to say, but I'm getting a migraine so I'll make it quick.
First, I have every reason to believe that Tony and Evelin are home safe. I talked to them when they were 2 hours from home and then again an hour and 1/2 later and they were having an uneventful ride home.
Second, I was homesick for the first time today. My nephew got his first hair cut, is cutting his first tooth and is rolling like a mad man and I'm missing it all. Plus, I was thinking about how all of my friends are gathering today and bbq'ing and I'm stuck in the house for safety reasons. Youth group was cancelled today b/c we weren't sure until now when Mel will return.
Which leads to my third thing. Mel is slated to return "mid-day" tomorrow (Sunday). We are not sure if church will be cancelled. My guess is yes. It is really hard to miss church two weeks in a row. Church helps me so much to re-center. And with all that is going on, I could really use some re-centering right now. But it is not safe. So this is the time that we have been waiting for. The news is still reporting that Mel will be incarcerated as soon as he enters the country. No matter what happens, it will be "feo" tomorrow.
I ended up having a really great day today. I watched K2 messages on youtube, which helped a lot. How ironic - the current series is "peace". And when I got up the nerve to share with my family here that I was feeling homesick, they immediately asked what we do in the US to celebrate the 4th of July. Then we created our own 4th of July celebration together here at home and it was awesome - I'll write about all of the details tomorrow. Believe me, nobody else had a 4th of July like mine! Jose and Karla are the best!
I will keep you updated tomorrow about what happens when Mel gets here. It's nice to finally know that he will be here tomorrow. Now we just have to wait and see what happens. Jose and Karla are glued to the tv, but I can't take it any more. I don't need to say it, but I will anyway: Please pray for the safety of every person in this country and for the country as a whole, that this situation can be resolved quickly and without violence.
